Selaco is quite possibly one of my favorite shooters to play on the Steam Deck, and the team has found massive success so far, and it all makes sense why! The game is extremely lightweight, addicting, and gorgeous, all piled into one wonderful package, and it was a pleasure to review it. The team is working hard to make it the best it can be, and with this massive new update, we have a ton of new additions and a nice Steam Deck fix for cloud saves.
Recently, Selaco has had a bit of a problem with cloud saves and getting it to work, but it seems like that won't be an issue any longer! Quicksaves and autosave have been reworked to work with Steam cloud saving, getting rid of the old issue where saves could be overridden. They are now consolidated into a single folder, and because of all of this, saves from Steam Deck to Windows and back should all be synchronized properly.
That's just a small part of the update, because there's so much more included here! Outside of the game, we now have the official soundtrack available and Steam Trading Cards + Point Shop, coming coupled with backgrounds and emoticons to collect. In game, we have a new Level Versioning system, which allows them to update the game while retaining save game compatibility, new mutators, new graphical settings, and new weapon upgrades.
We also have new UI improvements to make it much nicer to look at. We have better navigation, an improved map screen, new movement options, and a rebalancing across weapons and enemies. We also have more statistics to look at, updates to the Gore system, and oh so much more. If you don't like the update, the developers also have a beta version that you can roll back to the previous iteration.
This is a massive update, though, and I highly recommend checking out the full changelog on their Steam Community Post.
Selaco is on Steam now for $24.99 and is rated Steam Deck Playable due to small in-game text. It also mentions the game isn't supporting cross-platform saved games, but with this update, it should! We also reviewed the game and found it to be just a fantastic experience on the Steam Deck.
