I absolutely adore playing simulators on the Steam Deck, and this one is a really interesting one. Private Military Manager has you running a private military company, where you will recruit and outfit mercenaries, develop them, plan tactics, and observe how they execute missions. It's a really cool concept that feels quite unique in what it's trying to do, and I love that you can watch your mercenaries execute missions. And it should be quite awesome to play on the Steam Deck, especially since initial support is here.

In a new update two days ago, the developer has started to add in initial Steam Deck support! The team mentions that they believe the Deck is a great way to play simulation games, and while proper gamepad support isn't available yet, they did create and share a controller configuration that the internal team is using. They also seem to be using Proton Experimental to play the game, so you may need to force it as well.

There are some build stability fixes, but I do want to note that this is essentially a snippet or demo of the full game. Marketed as a prologue, this free version of the game is meant to show what the game will be. The full game has not been released yet, but it will have a lot more content in it. I was looking around to see if there was a release date for the full version, but I didn't see one. However, they do have a Steam page up, and these improvements will most likely come to the full game as well.

For now, you can download the Private Military Manager: Prologue for free on Steam.
