It can be hard to run some of the newest games on the Steam Deck without major compromises, which can be a bummer. Luckily, there are a few ways around this, and one of those is cloud streaming. There are two options that come to my mind for it, but the one I use the most is GeForce NOW. Paying a subscription fee to stream from an ultra-powerful computer with a powerhouse GPU, as well as tons of great games that are supported, is just fantastic. And it's going to get a lot better on the Steam Deck soon!
NVIDIA just had their keynote at CES 2025, and in it, they announced that they are creating a native GeForce NOW app for the Steam Deck. This means they will be making a Linux version of their application to better support the Steam Deck, make using it more stable, and possibly bringing new features that could only come directly from a native app. It's an amazing idea, and one that will make cloud streaming with GeForce NOW even more appealing.
Last year, NVIDIA created a beta installation method to use GeForce NOW from a web browser. It would install Google Chrome, adjust the settings accordingly, and add a shortcut to Steam. It is very helpful, but you still have to go through a web browser to use it. This new app should make the entire process easier and more stable, so I am very much looking forward to it.
Currently, there is no release date for the app, but it will be released this year. For now, I suggest going with the beta installation method from NVIDIA if you can't wait, but it's very hard to say no to this service with how easy it's going to get to stream and the awesome supported games that are coming like DOOM: The Dark Ages and Avowed.
