If you were watching yesterday's Nintendo Direct, then you might have been surprised to see a shadow drop of Metal Slug Attack Reloaded. Metal Slug Attack was originally a mobile game on iOS and Android back in 2016, but it's been brought back with enhancements to consoles and PCs via Steam.
In the game, you'll need to build up your deck of Metal Slug characters and strategically play them in order to gain the upper hand in this take on the tower defense genre.

Metal Slug Attack Reloaded has over 300 unique characters from five distinct factions, including the Regular Army, Rebel Army, and Space Army, allowing players to put together the ultimate decks with endless possibilities of combinations.
Worried about the learning curve? Metal Slug Attack Reloaded is designed for players of all skill levels; intuitive controls allow anyone to jump in and start battling. With the aim of being easy to learn, and hard to master, Metal Slug Attack Reloaded hopes to provide an enjoyable experience to new players and experienced ones alike.
Metal Slug Attack Reloaded features a Story mode, which contains a charming collection of tales that seamlessly blends new characters from METAL SLUG ATTACK with familiar faces from the franchise. The Gallery mode allows players a rich audiovisual experience in a similar fashion—from vibrant artwork to beloved music featured in Metal Slug games past and present.
Ready to battle it out online? Metal Slug Attack Reloaded features two exciting multiplayer modes:
ROOM BATTLE, which allows players to challenge their friends in a 1v1.
MATCHING BATTLE lets players from around the globe compete for the reigning title of “Super Devil.”
Metal Slug Attack Reloaded is available on Steam for $9.99. It's not been Steam Deck rated by Valve as of writing this article, but the system requirements and the fact that the game has full controller support means that it likely runs well on the handheld.

Why such high system requirements?
10 years ago I played a similar flash game that physically weighed up to 10 MB...
Unsure why the RAM requirement is 16GB, but I heavily doubt that's what the game actually uses. More likely that SNK didn't bother playing the game in-depth to find out what it really uses.
The fact that it runs with an Intel HD 4600 GPU and an Intel i7 4th gen means the CPU and GPU requirements are pretty low, so the Steam Deck should have no trouble with it.
