It appears a new horizontal version of the MangoHUD is being tested and could be coming soon. For those who don't know, MangoHUD is the overlay in the top left of the screen that displays specific hardware information like battery life and drain, CPU and GPU temps, framerate with the graph, and more. While this has been vertical in a box on the left since the Deck came out, it appears Valve is playing with a horizontal version that will go across the top of the screen.

This was most recently shown off in a Reddit post that showed the MangoHUD in a horizontal position right above the game.

While we were not able to replicate it ourselves, we were told and shown that you have to be on the "Main" branch of the update channel. To see this, you will need to enable "Show Advanced Update Channels" in the developer section of your settings. Then, if you go to System, you should see the "Main" option in the OS update channel. A friend of ours who was able to replicate it, Gecked, mentioned it needed to be in the Client Update channel, but we didn't see it.

Regardless, this will be pretty significant for anyone who wants to use MangoHUD since it will cover much less of the screen. It does push the game down a little bit, but for convenience, I would say this could be quite worth it. We will continue to use the vertical version as it is more clear to show information in our reviews, but a nice option is a nice option!
