I am still surprised to see Horizon Zero Dawn running on the Steam Deck at all, and it has wowed me since the Deck was released. And while it isn't perfect, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is technically playable, too, even garnering that Verified badge. There has been some debate about this since the game has many moments where it drops, but it can still technically be played. And now, a new patch has been released that should improve how the game looks and feels on the Deck.

The new update has three different parts that should help play on the Steam Deck specifically. Controllers that are connected to the Steam Deck during remote play should work correctly, ghosting on snow particles with FSR or XeSS upscaling has been reduced, and Steam Input now functions correctly if a controller is connected after launching the game. All of these directly affect the Steam Deck, so you should have a better feeling and looking experience overall.

Outside of that, we can now transmog our outfits to change their appearance without changing their stats, some crashes that could occur when applying coils to weapons and outfits has been fixed, and a bunch of bugs have been squashed, like the one where Nil would disappear after talking to him later in the game.

You can check out the full changelog for the update via their Steam Community Post.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered can be purchased on Steam for $49.99, but if you want to save money, you can get it on Fanatical for $42.49 using the code "FANATICAL15" at checkout.
