While the player base may have died down for the game, Helldivers 2 is still a fantastic experience. It makes it even wilder when you see that the game is playable on the Steam Deck, even if it does drop at times and isn't perfect. Still, it seems the developers still care about the device and making sure it can run, which is shown in this new update that was pushed out yesterday!

In the new update, we have a slew of new content and gameplay improvements, with one of them specifically geared towards the Steam Deck! There is a new graphics settings preset that was implemented, supposedly giving you better default settings if you are playing on a Deck. While we haven't tested these settings out, we have played the game and toyed with the settings, so we can say that there's a lot of compromises needed to play, but there may still be drops in heavy areas with tons of enemies.

In the end, this update has some pretty amazing additions too. We have a new extreme difficulty level, new mission objectives, bigger outposts for the new difficulty (good luck), new bugs and robots to destroy, a brand new swampy planet, and a new Acid Storm elemental hazard. There were also changes, with weapon balancing,m gameplay improvements, and bug fixes galore. The team also mentions some known issues they are working on fixing, like performance issues with the new difficulty and chain-link fences blocking flamethrowers' fire.

Helldivers 2 is available on Steam for $39.99. It is rated Steam Deck Playable due to small in-game text and need to change the graphics settings for it to perform well.
