It's hard to deny just how great Metroidvanias are on the Steam Deck. They feel like the perfect fit due to their lightweight requirements (most of the time), gameplay that fits flawlessly with controller support, and gorgeous environments that pop on the smaller screen. Of the upcoming ones, Gestalt: Steam and Cinder tops my list of most anticipated, and I can't wait to dive into the handcrafted Steampunk world that Metamorphosis Games is creating and it sounds like we will be able to really enjoy it on Steam Deck.

In a pre-launch FAQ that was posted earlier today, a couple of questions were answered regarding the price, length, and Steam Achievement count, and on top of that, we also got an answer about whether the game will be compatible with the Steam Deck. I am happy to say that the answer is yes: Gestalt will be compatible with the Deck! There aren't more details released yet, so we aren't sure whether it will be heavy on battery and able to hit 90 FPS, but it's still fantastic to have word on the support.

As for the other information, we do know a couple of things now:

  • Price: $19.99 with a 10% discount on launch week
  • Length: Around 10-12 hours
  • Achievements: 36 Steam Achievements are included
  • Languages: There is English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese support.

Overall, I couldn't be more excited for the upcoming release and look forward to playing it on the go!

Gestalt: Steam and Cinder will be available on July 16th and can be wishlisted ahead of the release.
