A new update for the open-world survival game Enshrouded has been released, and it brings with it some great new features. The base-building multiplayer game is easily one of the best survival experiences out right now, and the new Souls of the Frozen Frontier update has some nice Steam Deck improvements there to make playing a bit more enjoyable on the go.
In the new update, there are a couple of changes that help performance and playability on the Steam Deck. The biggest one will be the VFX shader compiling moving to the start of the game. This does make the first start after updates take a little longer, but there will be much less stuttering and performance issues caused by this during gameplay. We can also now adjust text size in the settings, which should make it a little easier to read everything on screen. And yes, you can now pause the game when in single-player mode, which will be great for taking the game on the go.
As I mentioned, there is so much more to this update on top of these wonderful Deck-friendly changes. We have a full new playable area called the Albaneve Summits, new enemies and Shroud roots, a raised level cap to 35, new crafting stations and unique armor sets, the dynamic weather system has finally arrived, new townsfolk to bring into your settlement, farm animals and pets to provide valuable resources, and much more!
You can check out the full changelog via their Steam Community Post.
Enshrouded is currently 20% off at $23.99 until November 19th. It is rated Steam Deck Unsupported, but it is playable on the Steam Deck with Proton Experimental or Proton GE.
