With the release of the final trailer, Bandai Namco has revealed the final 27 characters of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, which is quickly becoming one of the largest rosters ever for a Dragon Ball game. As someone who's been glued to each trailer, waiting to see which of my favorites would make the cut, I have to say—this reveal did not disappoint.

The trailer confirms a total of 181 fighters, and it’s packed with some heavy hitters. Seeing Broly in all his forms was a major highlight for me, particularly his 1993 film Legendary Super Saiyan form. Broly’s raw power and chaotic energy always make him a blast to play, and I can’t wait to see how he feels with the new mechanics in Sparking! ZERO. Another fantastic addition is Cooler, who is fighting in both his Final Form and Metal Cooler. I can already envision the chaos these versions will cause, even though Cooler has always been overshadowed by his brother Frieza. They both look fantastic, though.

The roster digs deep into Dragon Ball’s rich history, pulling in characters like Super Android 13 and even Super Garlic Jr. If you’re a fan of the more obscure movie villains, this is a dream come true. In my opinion, seeing Lord Slug in his Giant Form transports me to the golden age of Dragon Ball Z cinema. The addition of Turles and Bojack shows that the developers paid close attention to the feedback of long-time fans. It manages to be both new and nostalgic.

The fact that we're getting more than just Z characters is what's really awesome, though. Even fans of Dragon Ball Super have a lot to look forward to. Cabba, in his Super Saiyan guises, and Toppo, in his God of Destruction guise, are among the mix. The game draws from both the classic and modern sagas of Dragon Ball, making it feel like the ultimate fighting experience. The Super roster is rounded out by Frost and even a Frieza’s force member, which adds even more variety.

At this point, with 181 fighters, Sparking! ZERO isn’t just about rehashing characters for nostalgia’s sake—it’s setting itself up to be one of the most complete Dragon Ball games ever. The fact that we get all these movie characters alongside the core series cast makes me even more hyped for its release on PC via Steam.

On October 11, 2024, the game will be released, and I will be the first to dive into this enormous roster and witness these epic battles. Wishlist it on Steam today if you want to stay up to speed on future updates.
