Caves of Qud is at last hitting the 1.0 milestone after 15 years of constant development! According to developer Freehold Games and publisher Kitfox Games, the eagerly awaited full release will be accessible on Steam and GOG on December 5th, 2024.
After years of consistent updates and enhancements, fans of this complex and bizarre science-fantasy roguelike have only a little while longer to wait for the full release.
What’s New in the 1.0 Update?
Among the many interesting additions promised by the 1.0 update is a new tutorial designed to introduce newbies to the delightfully surreal world of Caves of Qud. This addition will help beginners get accustomed to the game’s systems before diving into its intricate, procedurally-generated landscapes.
With a long-awaited final quest and a mind-bending ending that will surprise even the most seasoned players, the update also concludes Caves of Qud's main questline. The endgame is expected to be as bizarre and exciting as the journey itself, in typical Qud fashion.
Other notable changes in the 1.0 update include:

- 40 new achievements to challenge even the most dedicated explorers.

Explore Qud's Distinct World
Caves of Qud is well-known for its deep simulation and elaborate world-building. The game offers a startling degree of player autonomy and is set in a far-future world where new civilizations emerge from the remains of the old. Characters with more than 70 mutations and dozens of cybernetic implants can be created, giving them amazing powers like flying, teleportation, and even the ability to switch bodies with robots.
Whether you prefer the harsh, unforgiving challenge of Classic mode (with permadeath) or opt for the more accessible Roleplay or Wander modes, there’s an experience for everyone.
Deluxe Edition & Pets of Harvest Dawn DLC
A special Dromad Deluxe Edition will also be released by Caves of Qud in conjunction with the release. This edition includes the full game, the newly enhanced soundtrack, and the Pets of Harvest Dawn DLC, which introduces in-game companions to aid your character. In addition to the pets that were previously only accessible to Patreon supporters, the DLC also comes with a brand-new, never-before-seen companion.
