Baldur's Gate 3 is coming and I couldn't be more excited. The series is fantastic and the developer working on it, Lairan Studios, are incredible at creating giant fantasy RPGs. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is still one of my favorite games of all time. And with their newest news post on Steam, they have confirmed some new information regarding the Steam Deck.

Controller Implementation and Recommended Settings

The biggest thing here is that the game can run on the Deck right? Well it seems we have that confirmation! According to the news post, Larian confirms that yes, you will be able to play Baldur's Gate 3 on the Steam Deck and it "looks rad". They will have their own list of optimal graphics settings to go along with it, though we will have to take a look at those on launch.

The game will also have full controller support, which will make it significantly easier to play instead of using mouse and keyboard controls that are emulated.

Larian is also aiming for Verified at launch, but we have some thoughts on the system and why it shouldn't be trusted at face value.

FSR 2 is Coming, Just Not on Launch

AMD's FSR 2 is coming to Baldur's Gate 3, but for those who want to use it, we will have to wait a little. As mentioned in the news post, Larian is working on implementing the upscaling tech, but it will not be implemented until closer to September 6th. Until then, they recommend trying out a different anti-aliasing option.

Split-screen is Disabled

Thinking about this, it does make a lot of sense, but it is still noteworthy. If you are playing on the Deck, the ability to use split-screen multiplayer will be disabled. This does make sense, considering the smaller screen, but it is still going to be a missing feature.

Other than that, I am excited to see how the game will be on the Deck when launched on August 3rd. You can purchase it on Steam and play since it is in Early Access! It is $60, but if you purchase now, or before the full launch, you will get the Digital Deluxe Edition content for free!
