It isn't usual that we see a lot of bigger companies be very transparent with the feedback they get, so it's definitely worth sharing and celebrating when they do! Not too long ago, ATLUS released the Metaphor Re:Fantazio prologue demo on Steam, and while it did run decently in a lot of areas, there were some bigger ones with some optimization on Steam Deck. This was reported back to ATLUS, and instead of dismissing it, they are addressing it directly.

On the official ATLUS West Twitter/X account, ATLUS responded directly to the criticism, both accepting it and reporting that they are working to address the issues:

While the team doesn't mention the Steam Deck directly, I don't see how optimization on Steam won't benefit the Deck in some way. It's awesome seeing them be so direct and transparent about the issues, and it gives me even more confidence that Metaphor will be a fantastic game to play both on the go or at home.

Hopefully, with these final touches, we will see a fully playable 30 FPS in the more open areas in Metaphor, or maybe even a solid 40 or 45 FPS. I do have doubts about 60, but ATLUS did take Persona 3 Reload and get it from 40 FPS to 60 FPS stable, so I wouldn't be surprised. I have faith in the team, and would still say Metaphor is a safe bet to buy for your Steam Deck.

Metaphor Re:Fantazio can be pre-purchased for $69.99 ahead of its October 10th release date. It has been rated Steam Deck Playable due to small in-game text and needing to manually change graphical settings for optimal gameplay.
