Playing the Assassin's Creed games on the Steam Deck feels like a premium experience. I have always played the games on my PC or PlayStation, so being able to put it in the palm of my hands and play the series on the go has been awesome. I was hoping that the new entry, Assassin's Creed Shadows, would be Steam Deck compatible as well, but in a Q&A Ubisoft posted on February 12th, they said the game would not be Steam Deck compatible. However, it seems this stance has changed!

Assassin's Creed Shadows on Steam Deck

In a post on Twitter/X from the official Assassin's Creed account, they have confirmed that the game will actually be supported on the Deck at launch! This is pretty fantastic and a reversal I am very happy to see. They mentioned that they are waiting for verification from Valve to see if they will get the Playable or Verified badge at launch, but there is no word yet.

With Assassin's Creed Shadows launching on Steam on launch day instead of later after the Ubisoft Connect version, Ubisoft may have a winner on their hands. I love that they are releasing the game like this, and it has made me way more interested in it than for previous games. It's hard to gauge just how well the game will run based on its minimum spec requirements, but with their comment, I do have faith! We are reviewing the game as well, so stay turned on March 18th for our review.

Assassin's Creed Shadows can be wishlisted on Steam or pre-purchased for $69.99 ahead of its March 20th launch.
