Atari has announced that their classic 1980's Arcade game is being revived in the form of Berzerk: Recharged for PC & other modern platforms and Berzerk: Enhanced Edition for Atari 2600/2600+.

Berzerk: Recharged

Fight through a deadly maze in this re-imagining of the original Berzerk game from 1980! The maze is filled with robots that only want one thing... You, dead!

Face off against a horde of robots as you navigate endless mazes to see how far you can get! Although you can fight back against the robot horde, an invincible, ever-present threat that can phase through walls, known as Evil Otto, is chasing you. There's only one way to deal with Evil Otto, and that's to RUN!

Not just the visuals have been upgraded for this Recharged edition of Berzerk. Twin-stick controls have been added to conform to modern expectations for top-down shooters. Power-ups have been added to vary the gameplay, and there's also local co-op play and online leaderboards for some friendly competition!

Berzerk: Recharged contains 20 hand-crafted mazes to challenge your skills. But it also contains a challenge mode with an endless variety of mazes, the difficulty ramps up with each maze you complete, so it's a test to see how far you can go!

Berzerk: Recharged will launch later this year on Steam! The system requirements are very low, and full controller support is promised, so this will likely run on the Steam Deck. If this sounds like your cup of tea, wishlist it to be notified when it launches!

Berzerk: Enhanced Edition

Berzerk: Enhanced Edition is for those of us out there who crave nostalgia. This is an enhanced cartridge that is available for purchase for $29.99, and will run on original Atari 2600 hardware, as well as the new Atari 2600+ console which launches on November 17, alongside the game.

This enhanced edition has limitations due to running on original hardware, but even so, Atari has added diagonal firing, audio improvements, some upgraded visuals, and bug fixes to this enhanced version of Berzerk.
