While I had my doubts prior to release, Assassin's Creed Shadows is an awesome and surprising blast to play on the Steam Deck. As I noted in my review, it feels like the perfect location for an Assassin's Creed game with a solid story and great combat mechanics. It performs much better than I expected on the Deck with an almost solid 30 FPS while looking nice, and the newest update includes some nice fixes for the Steam Deck.

Assassin's Creed Shadows

There are two new fixes specifically for the Steam Deck, which should make it easier to play on the go. There was an issue where some targets were not visible further away, and where some button actions for L2 and R2 on the default controller configuration weren't showing up, but this update fixes both of these problems.

The rest of the update has some great improvements to the game overall. The horse's auto follow is back and the horse's speed has been increased in cities, you can now reset Mastery Nodes to try new builds, you can now select and sell/dismantle multiple items at one time, and there's a new shortcut added for the Investigation Board. There are also improvements for double assassinations, balancing for boss fights, Naoe's responsiveness, and there have been some visual fixes for clipping and textures.

There are a lot more bug fixes in this update I didn't go over, and you can check out the full changelog via their Steam Community Post.
