Vellum looks like a really intriguing roguelike. It's a third-person co-op experience that has you running around and fighting others with magic. You will choose how your enemies get stronger as you do, while also applying challenges to every journey you take to get better and better. There are over 300 powers, and it looks like a blast to play through them all. And with the newest update, it should be significantly better to play on the Steam Deck than before.

The new update has a ton of different awesome improvements and adjustments, but on the Steam Deck side, we have optimizations across the board. We have performance improvements in general, as well as improved font scaling and adjustments to make it look better at lower resolutions. This should make playing on the Steam Deck significantly better to experience and read, which I couldn't be happier about.

Then, we have the rest of the update, which just makes the rest of the game so much easier to play. The performance improvements are across the board, with all areas being affected and everything having their performance cost reduced so we can experience the benefits. Spells have been balanced, Tomes and bosses have been reconfigured, magical pages are now appropriately decorated, and there are a ton of smaller adjustments to almost every aspect of the game.

You can check out the full changelog for the update via their Steam Community Post.

Vellum is $19.99 on Steam and is rated Steam Deck Playable due to small in-game text. However, this should be fixed now, so we may see the game get a green checkmark soon!
