We are well underway for awards season, and there are still so many more events coming up, including our own awards show. So far, the Steam Deck has won big at the Golden Joystick Awards, taking the Top Gaming Hardware category by storm. But it doesn't seem to be stopping there since the Steam Deck has also helped Valve win the Top Handheld Brand category for PCMag's Readers' Choice awards!
Yesterday, PCMag posted their Readers' Choice article about the best Gaming Hardware brands, which asks the readers of the website their thoughts on these brands and which ones are worth buying. In the first category, PCMag looked at the Top Gaming System Brands of 2024, and the Steam Deck won the top slot! There were three different categories in this section: handheld gaming, console/handheld hybrid, and traditional consoles. While Nintendo and Sony won the last two categories, Valve took the Handheld Gaming spot and still outscored all the other choices in Overall Satisfaction:
In addition, Valve also won the best Gaming Store and Service brand for Steam, beating out Sony for PlayStation Plus and Microsoft for Xbox Game Pass. No other PC marketplaces made the cut in the end, so it was a very small category, but still a win nonetheless!
It's hard to imagine what my gaming life would be like without the Steam Deck. Outside of the obvious with SteamDeckHQ, I would have never found the motivation to go through my backlog and truly play through my game library. Before this, I would collect games but never really play any of them. The Deck changed that, and I couldn't be happier!
I look forward to seeing what other awards the device may win this month.

As user of steam deck & rog ally I like the ally way better for games the steam deck does get better battery life on that side.
Curious if it didn't win the handheld/console because it's a PC. Or because Manny if the voters do not know about the docks available for the steam deck. Either way, it's nice to see this amazing piece of kit still winning awards and changing minds.
