Silent Hill 2 is a fantastic horror game and Bloober Team has really outdone themselves. However, there has been one weird feature that has been left out of the game that I was a bit baffled by: Cloud Saves. It feels like most new releases have this feature and utilize Steam's cloud save system, which is something I consider essential for playing on the Steam Deck. However, I am happy to say that this feature is no longer something on my wishlist!

In a new hotfix released 3 hours ago at the time of writing, we now officially have cloud saves. The team notes that the game will automatically sync with the latest cloud save data, and if it is more recent than the local save, it will overwrite the data without warning. If you want to keep multiple versions of your saves, they recommend backing it up manually. The fix also made sure players could now pass the Labyrinth, but after saving, they could encounter a progression blocker.

This is a really small fix, but I am extremely happy with it. I expected the game to launch with this feature, but as I have said many times, it is better late than never. Now, we will be able to seamlessly transfer our saves between the Steam Deck and our desktop computers.

As for how playable Silent Hill 2 is on the Steam Deck, I felt that it has potential, but there are some worrying concerns. It did get a patch that is said to have improved performance, but I haven't had the chance to test this out for myself yet. I do think this will end up being a playable experience on the go, but I can't 100% confirm it just yet. Regardless, I am super happy to see cloud saves coming in!

Silent Hill 2 can be purchased on Steam for $69.99, but you can get it on GreenManGaming for $54.59 (22% off).
