Proton 8.0 is Now Available - Fixes, New Playable Games, and More!

A new Proton stable update has officially been released, incorporating a ton of changes and updates from the experimental branch! This update makes games like Forspoken, Dead Space Remake, Nioh 2, Disney Dreamlight Valley, and more games able to be played, as well as a plethora of fixes for games like Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, The Witcher 3, and Company of Heroes 3.

Valve also updated the components of Proton as well, which includes dxvk, vkd3d-proton, and wine. There are a lot of changes with this one and it is fantastic to see!

This update should automatically appear in your downloads for you to download. Once done, it should be automatically applied to the games you play, as long as you don't force compatibility with a different Proton version.

It has been reported that it isn’t showing up automatically for some people. In this case, you may need to search it in the Steam store and download manually. The version is “Proton 8.0”.
