Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is finally coming to PC after almost 1 year on PlayStation, and I could not be more excited. The second part in the remake trilogy for one of the most iconic JRPGs is coming to Steam on January 23rd, and I have been counting the days to its release. I have been curious how it will play on the Steam Deck since Square Enix announced they are optimizing for the Deck, but it seems we have our first indication of whether it can be played.
As of today, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has officially been given the Steam Deck Verified rating, which signifies that it should be decent to experience on the go. Specifically, this rating for Rebirth signifies that the default controller configuration is good, shows the correct controller icons, text is legible, and the default graphics configuration performs well.
However, I would take this rating with a grain of salt. It is awesome to see the green checkmark, but it doesn't necessarily signify that this is going to be great to play on the Deck. There are a solid amount of games that have the checkmark or have gotten it in the past that have some issues when trying to play on the Steam Deck, so beware of this. Regardless, I have every intention of testing this game as soon as possible and reporting it here, so watch out on our site and socials for our thoughts.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth can be pre-ordered on Steam at 30% off for $48.99 until it releases on January 23rd.
