While I can't say I am a fan of the Epic Games Store personally, one of the few things they do that I like is giving away free games for anyone to add to their libraries. For the most part, this means one free game a week, usually every Thursday, but for the holidays, Epic is giving away a new free game every day, and they are starting it off with a bang!
For the next 22 hours, you can claim the 2D fighter, DNF Duel, to add to your Epic library! On Steam, the game is rated as Playable due to small in-game text and costs around $50, so getting it for free like this is quite nice! I haven't tested it myself, but based on ProtonDB reports, it runs quite well on the Steam Deck. Though, it needs some changes to settings, and you will have to bring up the virtual keyboard to put in your player name.
To easily play games from Epic on the Steam Deck, you can use the Heroic Games Launcher, which can be installed via the Discover Store, or install the launcher directly. For the latter, you can follow our guide on how to easily get this installed and set up.
The next game will be launching in around 7 hours, so there will be some overlap. Stay tuned as we will post an article on it and detail the game that is being given away! This was already a fantastic way to pad out your library without paying anything, so getting a free game every day is going to be very nice.
