Against the Storm has been one of my favorite base-building games to play in recent years, and it just got a massive new update that makes it even better! In the new 1.1 update, we have a ton of new content, but we also have a wealth of balances and UI improvements, including some changes to help Steam Deck players.
When it comes to the Steam Deck specifically, we have three different changes. First, the trackpad behavior has been changed to act as a mouse instead of an analog stick. Then, we have a new graphics preset when starting the game. It will now default to medium settings along with an uncapped framerate, which should result in a better default experience. Finally, there was a bug that was fixed where the "auto" button in the trade menu wouldn't work.
Unfortunately, the trackpad changes were causing some issues, so in a hotfix that was posted later on, the trackpad changes were reversed. There was also an issue with the enter key not working from the virtual keyboard, which has now been fixed. The developer is also aware of an issue that stops Steam Deck players from starting a new settlement from the world map and is working on a fix.
You can check out the 1.1 update and the new hotfix on their respective Steam Community Posts.
Against the Storm is available now for $29.99 and is rated Verified.
