Proton Experimental Hunt: Showdown 1896

A new Proton Experimental update has been released, and for those who were saddened by Hunt: Showdown's newest update breaking compatibility, you will be quite happy! The newest update fixes Hunt: Showdown's crashes from the 1896 update. We also have improved loading times for Pharaoh Rebirth+, voice chat is fixed in For Honor and UNO, and APB Reloaded is now playable!

Your Steam Deck will automatically add the new update to the download queue if you already have the layer, and if you don't, you can find it by searching "Proton Experimental" in the search bar.

Proton Experimental 9/9/24 Update Changelog:

  • Now playable: APB Reloaded.
  • Fixed Hunt: Showdown 1896 failing to start after a recent game update.
  • Fixed full screen in Dog Brew on Steam Deck.
  • Fixed support for BattleServer in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.
  • Fixed controller support in Clash for Crust.
  • Fixed Traditional Chinse font rendering in Mashiroiro Symphony HD -Sana Edition-.
  • Improved loading times in Pharaoh Rebirth+.
  • Fixed newer Unreal Engine games trying to install redistributables on each launch.
  • Fixed voice chat in For Honor and UNO.
  • Fixed recent experimental regression that caused replugging to not work in Resident Evil 2 and many other games.
  • Added a warning in Proton logs when running on system with low max_map_count.
  • Fixed Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 4 not being playable on some setups.
  • Fixed Proton 9.0 regressions:
    • B-17 Flying Fortress is playable again.
    • Multiplayer works again in Hotshot Racing.
