Animal Crossing-esque Survival Game Longvinter Will Get Steam Deck Support With 1.0 Release

When I first saw Longvinter, my first thought was how much it looked like Animal Crossing. The character designs definitely evoke Animal Crossing, but it's an open-world survival sandbox where you will fish, farm, craft, and create your own home. It looks like a great time, and it is finally almost out of early access. And with the new 1.0 update, we do have confirmation that Steam Deck support is coming.

Longvinter is officially launching next week, so developer Uuvana Studios has posted one last early access devlog. In it, they discuss when exactly the 1.0 update will be released, which will be on February 21st, and that there will now be a 6-month wipe cycle for official servers. After that, they discuss how the game will be fully playable on the Deck without any workarounds required. This is something they have verified on their end with their own Steam Deck.

They also made the decision to retain all prestige levels that players have previously achieved, but they are going to be wiping all Mk currency, so it would be a good idea to purchase prestige now. The team also decided to keep their server population cap at 100 for a good balance between stability, performance, and enough players to enjoy the game at its fullest. The team did confirm there are future plans they have, though they didn't elaborate on what those are yet, but the development of Longvinter will continue.

Longvinter is available to purchase on Steam for $19.99 and is rated Playable due to needing a community controller configuration, showing incorrect controller icons, small in-game text, needing to manually configure graphics settings to perform well, and needing to manually bring up the virtual keyboard. There is no word on whether price will go up once it gets out of early access, but it is possible.
