There have been talks and leaks throughout this year that Valve is going to soon support SteamOS on other handhelds. Most recently, I remember there being a SteamOS changelog that included a ROG Ally fix in it, and they even confirmed to The Verge that they would support being on the Ally once they felt the OS was ready. But from the latest leak, it looks like it won't be mutually exclusive to the Ally.

Reported by The Verge, Evan Blass of evleaks fame has posted photos of the Lenovo Legion Go S on Twitter/X. Generally, it looks like a normal handheld that we have seen from ASUS and MSI, opting for a more condensed and portable look than the Legion Go, but there is one peculiar feature. On the left side of the device, there is a button that clearly has a Steam logo, which could indicate some specific compatibility with Steam and possibly even SteamOS.

When I first saw the image, my first thought was maybe this was a button that just goes to Steam immediately, like a shortcut. If there was going to be a button for a SteamOS function, I would assume it to be the ellipsis for the Quick Access menu, like the one the Hori Steam Controller has. However, there are a couple of indicators that may make SteamOS more believable.

According to Tom Warren, Evan posted both a black and white variant of the Legion Go, but the White variant doesn't have the Steam button. This could be an indicator of both a Windows and SteamOS version of the handheld. On top of that, we also had the new branding guidelines, which included a "Powered by SteamOS" logo. Coupled with the recurring hints that Valve is supporting SteamOS on other handhelds and devices, it seems like this is more of a believable idea.

We will see for sure if this is true when Lenovo announces the Legion Go S, but with everything else that has happened this year, I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing SteamOS handhelds next year that aren't from Valve.
