Thinking about it, it does make sense, but it still surprises a little bit. JSAUX, an accessory maker that also makes Steam Deck accessories, mentioned through their Twitter that the Steam Deck docks that they have made do contain firmware that can be upgraded!

From their announcement, it appears that the focus will be compatibility issues, though JSAUX didn't specify further.

In the comments of this tweet, they specified this would be for their HB0602 and HB0603 docks. We followed up asking if their newest dock, the M.2 HB0604, would have this as well. We will update this post accordingly when we hear back.

We luckily got our hands on the upgraded dock and reviewed it! It was absolutely phenomenal and has become a central part of daily use for myself.
