Epic Brings Out Control For Its Next Free 2024 Holiday Giveaway

After giving away DREDGE for free yesterday, I was curious how Epic could follow up with such a great giveaway, but in my mind, they definitely did! The next free game being given away by Epic for the holidays is Control, one of my favorite third-person shooters from the fantastic minds of Remedy Entertainment.

Created by the developers behind the Alan Wake games, Control has you running through glorious, mind-bending environments while utilizing different superpowers to regain control over the Federal Bureau of Control. I also love how they have tied it into their own universe, with some references to Alan Wake sprinkled in (especially in the AWE expansion).

On Steam, the game is rated Steam Deck Verified, and it definitely deserves it. It runs quite well, though it does need some compromises to keep the framerate up. It is also rated Platinum on ProtonDB, and has a lot of reports confirming how well Control runs on Linux and the Steam Deck. I remember Control being touted for the Steam Deck when the device first launched, and there's a good reason for that.

You can get Control on the Epic Games Store for free for the next 24 hours, so hurry up and grab it while you still can! This does not include either of the two expansions, but you can get the season pass on Epic for $4.49 right now as well.
