Recently, the games Epic has been giving away for the holidays hasn't lived up to the higher standards I would have expected, but today, it seems like it is starting to change! The next game Epic is giving away for the 2024 holidays is DREDGE, and I would consider it an essential Steam Deck game to add to your libraries.
DREDGE is a fishing adventure taking place in a creepy world filled with cosmic horrors. You will go out, catch and sell fish, upgrade your boat, complete quests, and learn more about the history behind the islands. However, you will want to avoid the nighttime, as that's when the monsters come out.
I remember playing this last year for both previews and reviewing, and I was floored with how awesome the game is. On top of that, it plays perfectly on the Steam Deck, easily hitting that 60 FPS mark without draining the battery too much. It has earned the Verified badge and Platinum rating on ProtonDB, and I can't recommend it enough.
You can get DREDGE on the Epic Games Store for free for the next 24 hours, so hurry up and don't miss your chance to get one of last year's best games on the Deck without paying a dime!

It's also free through Prime, on GOG, which is inarguably better than Epic.
What's the current best way of playing Epic Games Store games on the SteamDeck? I was looking at Junk Store on Steam a few months ago but it seems it's not going ahead anymore.
I would say the Heroic Launcher from the Discovery Store is the best currently!
