I remember when Trombone Champ first came out, and it was all the rage. This small, hilarious rhythm game has you play a Trombone through different songs, while an adorable avatar just dances behind the screen, waving around a giant Trombone. It's an awesome game, but admittedly, it isn't the easiest to control on the Steam Deck. Well, it looks like that will change soon!

Yesterday, developer Holy Wow Studios released the newest update for the game, and towards the bottom of the changelog, they go over what is next for the game. The third entry here talks about how the team wants to revisit controller support, and admit that it's mainly to get the game working as smoothly as possible on the Steam Deck, and I couldn't be happier:
We'd like to revisit input. We'd love to have nice controller support, mainly so we can get the game working as smoothly as possible on the Steam Deck. Trombone Champ does work on the Steam Deck, but it doesn't control nearly as nicely as it could. (The game was released at a time when the Steam Deck was heavily backordered — we weren't able to get one until much later!)
Holy Wow Studios - Trombone Champ 1.26 Changelog
While there's no timeline, I am still very excited for what's to come. This update added Steam Workshop support, which makes it significantly easier to find and download custom tracks for the game. While the game already had mod support, this makes it much easier to add new songs to the game, especially when playing on the Deck.

Trombone Champ is available for $14.99 on Steam and is rated Playable due to showing incorrect controller icons and small in-game text.
