Top20MostPlayedSteamDeck2025Thumbnail

2025 is now officially over, and there have been so many incredible games that have released. With that in mind, we can now see which games have been most played on the Steam Deck throughout the entirety of last year. While most of the games were released before this year, there are some amazing games included, with Megabonk and Hollow Knight: Silksong joining in.

So, here are the top 20 most played Steam Deck games of 2025, according to Valve:

20. Fallout 4

Fallout4Stock11

Despite it being around for quite some time, Fallout 4 has retained its spot on these most-played lists, and it's still wonderful to play. Compared to Bethesda's other big RPG series, The Elder Scrolls, I much preferred Fallout due to the sci-fi setting and including guns, but I have also loved the V.A.T.S. system, story, and world that they built.

It is pretty great to play on the Steam Deck, though I wouldn't expect 60 FPS without some major compromises to visuals. Still, set it to 30, bring the graphics up, and enjoy.

19. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

BindingOfIsaacRebirthストック

The Binding of Isaac was one of my favorite games when it was released, and a lot of its DNA can be traced to the roguelike genre. In fact, it's probably one of the first roguelikes I ever played. It has a weird setting and world, but it just adds to the fun, and it's a wonderful experience I can happily recommend.

It's a flawless experience on the Steam Deck, and a worthy addition to the portable library.

18. DAVE THE DIVER (SDHQ Review)

DavetheDiverStock1

DAVE THE DIVER is by far one of my favorite management games. In the daytime, you will go diving for fish and gather materials, and at night, you will run a Sushi shop to make money using the materials you find. It's a fantastic loop with gorgeous pixel visuals and hilarious moments, and it's just perfectly worth all the time invested into it.

The game runs flawlessly on the Steam Deck as well. It sticks to a smooth 60 FPS the whole time with low battery drain, and I can wholeheartedly say it's amazing on the go.

17. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Witcher 3

The first of two incredible RPGs from developer CDPR on this list, and is iconic. You take on the role of Geralt, a Witcher, who is searching for Ciri and will take on a multitude of quests, bounties, and more in a giant sprawling medieval-esque world. It's an incredible game, and well-worth playing through, even if you haven't played the first two games.

The game has a dedicated Steam Deck graphical preset that runs quite well, hitting 60 FPS more often than I would expect for a large open-world RPG like this.

16. Slay the Spire

Slay the Spire 1

Slay the Spire is the most iconic deckbuilding roguelike that's out right now. In my mind, it really started the subgenre. You go through dungeons and build out your deck of cards, which can range from different spells and attacks to passive bonuses to make yourself stronger. It has a great balance with its cards and never feels too difficult, but it will take skill to get through.

It runs flawlessly on the Steam Deck as well, hitting 60 FPS with ease and low battery drain.

15. Brotato

brotato 1

While I appreciate most roguelikes and survivors games, Brotato stands above 95% of them. You choose your potato character, all with different stats, and send them into wave-based auto combat where you will get new weapons and passive bonuses. These can be upgraded as you level up and gather new equipment, making yourself stronger and stronger in the process.

It's incredible to play on the Steam Deck, with 60 or 90 FPS and low battery drain. It's a perfect experience on the go.

14. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

SkyrimSpecialEditionSteamDeckUnsupported 4

I know I said that Fallout 4 has been around for quite some time, but Skyrim has been around even longer, and is still relevant today. It continually gets re-releases, but it's the modding community that keeps this dark fantasy RPG alive. It's a great game, especially when those mods get involved, and is a treat to play.

It recently got downgraded to the Unsupported badge from Valve, though it still plays like a charm. At the default settings, it hits 60 FPS, and can even get above 30 FPS when at Ultra, so I am not sure why Valve changed the rating down.

13. Vampire Survivors

Vampire survivors 1

The legendary game that effectively started the Survivors series. This small $5 game became an addictive hit that has ultimately had collaborations with major franchises like Castlevania, Contra, and Among Us, expanding the auto battling content even further. Vampire Survivors is a dangerous game, and I wouldn't play it if you value your free time.

It runs perfectly on the Steam Deck at 60 FPS and above with ease. There may be some drops here and there when there are too many effects on screen, but it's still very playable.

12. ELDEN RING (SDHQ Review)

Elden Ring 1

ELDEN RING is known as the greatest soulslike for good reason. FROM SOFTWARE expanded on their Dark Souls gameplay, taking the action RPG successfully into an open-world that is hard not to love. It retains the difficult gameplay that defined it, while making it feel bigger than it ever has.

It runs well on the Steam Deck, getting around 40 FPS until the Erdtree expansion, which is more demanding and will need a 30 FPS lock. Still, it should be relatively playable on the go.

11. Hogwarts Legacy (SDHQ Review)

HogwartsLegacyStock2

While I had my reservations initially, Hogwarts Legacy is a fantastic open-world RPG worth playing. You take control of your own character in a wizardry RPG where you will fight monsters, learn spells, go to school at Hogwarts, and travel throughout the Harry Potter universe. It's way more fun than I initially thought, and it's well worth the time investment, especially when its only $6 on Steam right now.

It isn't the greatest experience on the Steam Deck, but it can stick to 30 FPS most of the time. My experience with the game has never been amazing, always finding some issue with framerate, but it's still playable.

10. Red Dead Redemption 2 (SDHQ Review)

Rdr2 1

This was probably one of the most surprising playable games on the Steam Deck, but I am not complaining. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a massive open-world RPG made by GTA dev Rockstar, and still has the same excellent quality that defined Grand Theft Auto. It has an incredible story, fantastic animations, detailed simulations, and hilarious physics that keep on making me come back for more.

As for Steam Deck performance, it mostly sticks to 60 FPS. There are some areas and spots that will dip, but I saw it mostly stick around 60 and above, so I would consider this awesome to play on the go.

9. Hades (SDHQ Review)

Hades 1

Even though a sequel was released, Hades still shines as one of the best roguelikes out there. Its top-down action combat is tight, the voice acting and artwork are on point, and the progression systems and story are both fantastic and intriguing.

This is a wonderful game for the Steam Deck as well, and it's another perfect fit.

8. Megabonk

MegabonkStock1

This is one of my favorite games that was released this year, and it will be very hard for me to put down anytime soon. Megabonk combines gameplay elements of Risk of Rain 2 and Vampire Survivors to create this weird, addictive roguelike that feels right at home in my Steam Deck library.

And yes, it's perfectly playable on the Deck as well. 60 FPS will be easy to hit with low battery drain, and I can't recommend getting it enough!

7. Cyberpunk 2077

cyberpunk 77 1

Cyberpunk 2077 is the second CDPR RPG on the list, and it is phenomenal. The team is fantastic at making large scale, open-world RPGs and they hit it out of the park with this one. It's exactly what I would want from a sci-fi futuristic world, with a great story, excellent combat, and gorgeous futuristic designs, and I fell in love with it.

It also runs quite well on the Steam Deck. I wouldn't try to run it above 30 FPS for the most stable experience, but it's still very playable and I had a blast playing through it.

6. Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight 1

Hollow Knight reigns as one of the best metroidvanias to have released, and it still holds up today. The gorgeous atmosphere, fantastic level design, and wonderful combat all work wonderfully together to create a very engaging experience. It's still so much fun to play, and I can happily recommend it to anyone who enjoys these types of games.

And as expected, it just runs perfectly on the Steam Deck. It ultimately just feels perfect for portable play.

5. Hollow Knight: Silksong

HollowKnightSilksongStock1

This is the second of two games that are on this list that were released this year, and as much as I think others should be here as well, Hollow Knight: Silksong deserves a spot on the list. The game follows one of the best Metroidvanias that have ever been released, and in the 3 months it has been out, it has dominated the charts. It takes the lessons learned from Hollow Knight and cranks them up with a new character that feels completely different to play as, while retaining the charm it always had.

It also runs flawlessly on the Steam Deck, so you should have no issues playing this on the go.

4. Baldur's Gate 3 (SDHQ Review)

BaldursGate3Funny

I love developer Larian Studios and the tactical, story-driven RPGs they create, and Baldur's Gate 3 is no exception. The game is fantastic, filled with tons of content, choices that affect the story, and a wonderful combat system that takes thought and feels rewarding. It's probably one of the most detailed and freeform RPGs that's out right now, and I would not pass up a chance to play it.

Ever since it got Linux support directly, the game has been great to play through on the Steam Deck. It would still be best at a 30 FPS lock, but it looks better and should be more stable in Act 3, where it had issues before.

3. Hades 2

Hades2Stock1

Heading into the top 3, we start it with Hades 2. The game finally hit 1.0, and ever since then, it has consistently stuck to the top of the charts for the Steam Deck. This is a fantastic game, taking the addictive elements from the first game, expanding on them, and giving it a new story and characters. It's a must-have game if you are a fan of roguelikes.

And just like its predecessor, it's a great experience on the Steam Deck. Also runs at 90 FPS with ease and relatively low battery drain, so it's a perfect fit for portable play.

2. Balatro (SDHQ Review)

Balatro11

When Balatro released, I was blown away by it. Taking Poker and turning it into a roguelike is such an outlandish idea, yet it works flawlessly. This was my 2024 game of the year, and I am sad it didn't win, because it was just so creative, addictive, and hard to put down. Using Poker hands to build up scores to win each round, while having Jokers that can multiply your score and ways to upgrade your hands is such a genius idea that it never feels old.

And yes, it's perfect on the Steam Deck. There should be no issue playing this on the go whatsoever.

1. Stardew Valley

Stardew

And finally, at number 1, we have the iconic Stardew Valley. After having been around for almost 10 years at this point, it's kinda crazy to see it still so popular, but at the same time, it's not that difficult to see why. This is one of the best farming simulators out there, combining cozy gameplay and enjoyable farming with a great cast of characters to meet, fall in love with, and marry. Add in dungeon hunting, intriguing quests, and a storyline that can head into weird territory, and we have a wonderful game that's perfect for the Deck.

With it being so old, and it having already been optimized for phones and the Switch, it goes without saying that the game is flawless on the Steam Deck as well.

And those are the top 20 most played games of 2025 according to Valve. There were so many amazing games that were released this year, and while I wish more of them showed up in this list, it is great to see Megabonk and Silksong, as well as some amazing classics that I still play today. Here is the list of games directly from Valve that we pulled from as well:

I am looking forward to 2026 to see what could be coming, and I can't wait to find out for myself which games will top this list next year.
