There’s some time left until the end of the Winter Sale, and I have been combing the catalog for the hidden gems that deserve your time and money. A couple are from last summer, but the majority are brand new additions that I believe should be on your radar.
Chronosome Evil 2 - $8.99 (53% off)

This game is a massive challenge, but it is well worth it especially for the historical low price. It's up to you to survive the onslaught of nightmares that are surely coming your way. Chronosome Evil 2 is a true hidden gem, and it deserves more eyes on it. The developer is actively adding content to the game, and this is a deep game packing a lot of depth.
The game is rated Steam Deck Playable due to needing a community controller configuration, showing incorrect controller icons, and small in-game text. Despite these flaws, it is an enjoyable experience on the Deck, although it lacks Cloud save support.
Cleared Hot - $14.99

Another recent release this year shows off a delicious helicopter combat sim that’s currently in Early Access. The gameplay loop is fantastic with some impressive sound design, and the game has a ton of polish for how early development it is. The only potential issue right now is the relative lack of content.
Cleared Hot is Steam Deck Verified.
Deadeye Deepfake Simulacrum - $9.74 (25% off)

A top-down hacking RPG, do not let the simple graphics fool you. It has so many ways to play its many levels, my personal favorite being the necromancy power. Sending armies of animated meat to kill my enemies while I hack the computer I need? Where do I sign? It is in Early Access, but there is a lot of content already, and this game excels at emergent gameplay.
While the Steam Deck rating is unknown, I’ve had great experiences playing it on the Deck without forcing any Proton Compatibility and using a Keyboard and Mouse controller profile. If there’s enough interest I will happily do a review of it!
Gaucho and the Grassland - $15.99 (25% off)

It’s been a big year for JRPGs and farming sims, and Gaucho is a solid one that packs some impressive mechanics into a wholesome cowboy simulator. It is a little buggy, but there’s more than enough here to keep fans of the genre interested.
Gaucho is Steam Deck Verified, but it is pretty heavy on the battery.
Heroes of Science and Fiction - $11.99 (50% off)

Think of Heroes of Might and Magic, transform it into an offworld planet with some odd alien/furry factions, and you get this game! This is an excellent turn-based 4X game that’s been in Early Access for a while now. It got a robust map editor this year, and it is a great deal of fun.
This game is Steam Deck Verified after some important UI updates this year.
House of Necrosis - $12.99 (15% off)

House of Necrosis is a classic inspired turn-based horror game with a lot of love put into it. Plending survival and roguelike mechanics brings a bunch of replayability, and it feels like a love letter to games from the PS1 era.
House of Necrosis is Steam Deck Verified.
Locomoto - $13.99 (40% off)

A cozy train management game about looking after your village, gathering resources, and being a conductor of a very comfortable train! This was a big surprise for me as it came out of nowhere, and it has a very engaging story too. It is a little buggy right now, though.
Locomoto is Steam Deck Verified and plays great, but you do need a high TDP to keep the framerate steady.
Nitro Gen Omega - $16.99 (15% off)

Nitro Gen Omega is like playing a bizarre gundam anime game with a bunch of resource management and mech customization on top of it. Out in Early Access, it has rapidly become one of the most interesting games I’ve played in a while. The art style is fantastic, and the combat has plenty of flair. This might be my favorite hidden gem from 2025.
Nitro Gen Omega is rated Unsupported on the Steam Deck, but it has full controller support and it plays well on the Steam Deck from my testing. The text size is rather small, however.
Potato Flowers in Full Bloom - $11.89 (26% off)

This dungeon crawling RPG desperately needs more attention than it has, although a Overwhelmingly Positive review score shows that many greatly appreciate it. Despite the cartoony visuals and simplistic game mechanics, it does a great amount with the limited toolset it has and the combat is full of depth.
Potato Flowers in Full Bloom is Steam Deck Verified.
Project Silverfish - $20.99 (30% off)

Project Silverfish is incredible for its Early Access development version. Already this open world game is a deeply enjoyable and refreshing experience, and is more than worth the price tag. Developed by the same awesome person behind ADACA, which has graced my previous hidden gem lists in the past. At 30% off, this is the cheapest it has been yet.
Project Silverfish is rated Playable on the Steam Deck, requiring some tweaking to the controls to get things working optimally, as well as small ingame text.
Seal World - $4.99 (20% off)

You get to meet a bunch of cute seals, collect lots of cosmetic items to kit out the seals, and eat fish. Not much more to say, really! The game is dirt cheap, well received, and pretty wholesome to play. It’s not very long, but worth the price.
Seal World is technically classed as Unknown, but it carries a Platinum rating through ProtonDB and plays well on the Steam Deck.
Spirited Thief - $1.99 (90% off)

Spirited Thief is a surprisingly unique turn-based strategy game where you combine two very different characters. Search ahead as spirit, Trin, and grab the goods as thief, Elaj. The game is pretty challenging with some issues with polish, but for this price tag you really cannot go wrong. Two dollars for this stealth hidden gem is a great deal.
Spirited Thief is Steam Deck Verified.
The Necromancer’s Tale - $19.99 (15% off)

There are story rich games, and then there is The Necromancer’s Tale. This was a CRPG from last year with impressive writing chops and some great characters, although the gameplay is more of a footnote than anything else. Still, it is worth the asking price for the experience alone.
The Necromancers Tale is Steam Deck Verified.
Verho - Curse of Faces - $17.99 (20% off)

Blending old-school dungeon crawling with some impressive atmosphere and difficult combat, Verho was one of last year’s biggest hidden gem surprises for me. It reminded me a lot of last year’s Drova: Forsaken Kin, and this sale is a historical low for the game.
Verho is rated Playable on the Steam Deck, with small text size the only blip in an otherwise great experience.
Wartorn - $16.99 (50% off)

It might be flawed but I was a big fan of Wartorn. The combination of challenging management mechanics and roguelike elements brought this game to my attention since launch.
Wartorn is Steam Deck Playable, with small ingame text the main sticking point. It requires a full TDP to run well, too, so don’t expect much battery life.
And those are just the highlights! With so many games on offer, there should be something for everyone. What are you going to pick up in the sales? Let us know in the comments section, and Happy New Year!
