Incase you were wondering how Sonic X Shadow Generations was doing, you'll be pleased to hear that the game appears to be a commercial success, with SEGA just announcing that the game has surpassed 2 million units sold.

Combining the 2011 hit-game "Sonic Generations" with a new title "Shadow Generations" that added new gameplay twists to the series turned out to be a winning formula.

SEGA credit the good reception with launching the game simultaneously on multiple platforms, supporting 12 languages to reach a global audience, as well as an extensive marketing campaign and attending events around the world.

It's likely that the well-received Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie last year didn't hurt the sales of the game either, as the movie grossed more revenue than the previous 2 movies in the series.
