NonSteamLaunchers New Update Adds Community Note System and Launcher Fixes

NonSteamLaunchers (NSL) has been one of my go-to ways to play games that aren't released on Steam. It's a script that allows you to automatically install third-party launchers while also installing and updating Proton GE. It's extremely helpful for launchers that aren't supported by the Heroic Games Launcher, and the new update is a very interesting one.

The biggest new feature for the 4.1.0 update is called "NSL Community Notes." This allows you to create your own notes that can then be shared with everyone who uses NSL. As per the instructions, all you have to do is make a note for the game and type "#nsl" at the beginning with a space and then your actual note. Once done, NSL will find the note and transmit it to everyone else who uses NSL for that specific non-Steam game.

It's an intriguing concept and a cool way for people to share their thoughts or guides on specific games. However, when I tried it, it didn't work. I made a Steam note with "#nsl" at the beginning, but it wasn't detected. And since the update was just released, there aren't any notes to sync, so I wasn't able to test the feature. The concept sounds cool, but I want to see it in action.

The rest of the update is focused more on maintenance, but adds some great new buttons too. We now have the PURPLE Launcher and Plarium Play added, GOG and battle.net have been fixed up, and some cleaning-up code has been added. There are also new buttons that allow you to turn your screen off to save on battery when downloading bigger games, and a button to sync your game saves manually with Ludusavi.

If you already have NonSteamLaunchers downloaded on your Steam Deck, just run it, and it will auto-update to the newest version. It may give a pop-up that you should update to 4.0.4, but just hit ok and ignore it.
