MagicX has been a very interesting company to watch. They have one of the weirdest designed handhelds I have ever seen (the Zero 40), but they also have some very appealing, smaller handhelds at solid prices. One of those is the upcoming One 35, which looks like a great device to take with you anywhere, but there have been some changes that were announced for the release.
In a new post over on the MagicX Discord server, staff member Sean (username magicmsean) made a post with five announcements about their upcoming One 35 handheld. Alongside these, he posted some new photos that showed off all three different colorways, as well as the new pricing and a spec sheet that contains some changes from the original. The colors themselves look awesome, and I have already chosen my favorite (grey).
In those dive announcements, there were a few confirmations he made. First, the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage option is completely sold out, and the only one that remains is the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option. The team also adjusted their specs to confirm the screen brightness is 500 nits and not 700. The screen can support 700, but it can shorten the lifespan, so they changed the maximum. They are also working on a full demo video and will be uploading it to YouTube later today, which will showcase the device playing multiple different games.

However, the biggest announcement to come from this post is the price changes. The One 35's price has been adjusted, going from the old $69 early bird price of the 4GB RAM model to $79 early bird price, and the price after release shot up from $73 to $85. It's a $10 increase for the early bird and a $12 increase for release pricing. To offset this a little, the shipping cost has come down from $19 to $15, which saves us $4. In total, after the flat cost shipping, we are paying $6 or $8 more, depending on when it's purchased. It's not a terrible change, and it still keeps it under the $100 price tag, but it's notable.
Ultimately, the One 35 still looks like an appealing handheld to watch. The low price coupled with enough power to play through GBA and lower emulation, as well as some PSP, PS1, and maybe even a GameCube game here and there, is very appealing. I wouldn't expect most GameCube, PS2, or higher to run well, but for the price, this is quite a nice offering.
You can order the MagicX One 35 over on their website with prices starting at $79.
