Stardock Entertainment and Oxide Games, along with Xbox Game Studios, announced that Ara: History Untold Version 2.0 will bring new content and mechanics to the game. A new Culture and Influence System has been added in the Revolution update. This allows the players to mitigate micromanagement and add new ways to gain control.

Culture is a new quality of life section added in cities. Culture generates Influence, a new currency used to acquire cultural traits and expand territory through claims. All of these additions offer an alternative to military expansion in the game.

Agitators can be sent into unknown regions to stir rebellion due to the introduction of revolutionary technology during the Renaissance. A second form of conquest in Act II: ideological subversion is also unlocked. Unique historical forces like Mongol Horse Archers and Japanese Samurai are commanded by every civilization. All the leaders are modified with new mechanics, traits, and abilities, giving a more immersive experience. Smarter stockpile and priority controls replace the micromanaged production queue. Adaptive AI makes diplomacy, warfare, and resource management more challenging because it responds to your performance.

The update also brings new accessibility and customization options, along with new exclusivity rules, historical trade, and competition. Players will enjoy smoother framerates and reduced CPU usage due to major game engine optimizations.

Brad Wardell, Chief Executive Officer for Stardock and Oxide, says, “We’re really excited to bring Culture as a game mechanic into Ara. The role of ‘soft power’ cannot be overstated. While military conquest remains the most direct way of expanding one's territory, we really wanted to give players other means of expanding their control of the world. This is especially true in the late game when the explore and expand parts of the game have reached their maximum.”
