Almost Every PS2 Game Can Now Be Played Via Emulation With PCSX2

When it comes to emulation, preservation is my main use for it. There are so many games that have been lost to time, never to be remastered or accessible again. Emulation solves that. Using a program, we can keep these classic games alive, games like God Hand, Spectrobes, and many, many more. One of the most popular emulators is PCSX2, which focuses on PS2 emulation and is one of the best out there, with some amazing enhancements like texture pack support, multiplayer capabilities, and more. However, we can now confirm that almost the entire PS2 catalogue can be played using the emulator, and it's pretty amazing.

Spotted initially on Overclock3D, more than 99.5% of all PS2 games are now supported via PCSX2. This is confirmed on PCSX2's website, where in the compatibility tab, we can see the Perfect and Playable categories adding up to over 99.5%. There are really only four games that are marked as either "In-Game" or "Menus", which means they aren't playable just yet. These are Final Fantasy 11, Marvel Nemesis - Rise of the Imperfects, World Series Baseball 2K3, and DRIV3R (which is the one in-game title).

Otherwise, every other game is labeled either as Playable or Perfect, which means they can be played without too many issues. 98.44% of the list is considered Playable, and there may be some little hiccups here and there that can be encountered, but it should still be relatively playable. Still, at least we have FInding Nemo, Half-Life, and Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 listed as perfect, and that's all I need.

Some of the list may also be a little inaccurate, and more games may have become more playable. Most of these games have been tested on versions 1.4.0 to 1.7.0, which are older versions of the emulator. The most recent update is 2.4.0, so many of these games may now be perfectly playable, and perhaps even the non-working titles listed above are functioning properly as well.
