OTXO was provided by Super Rare Games for review. Thank you!
OTXO is a top-down brutal shooter with roguelite elements. After picking up a random mask, you wake up somewhere in a mansion where you will need to kill to survive and save your loved one. Utilizing a massive variety of guns and over 100 different abilities, including slo-mo, you will race through and destroy all who get in your way while taking breaks in-between levels to acquire new perks. The faster you go, the higher combo you will get to receive more currency and get more abilities! With unlockable weapons, a blasting soundtrack, and a unique aesthetic, OTXO will be a bloody time to remember.
If you are looking for a fantastic and visually appealing fast-paced game, you won't have to look further. I love OTXO's aesthetic, going with black and white and the only color shown is the red blood. I also enjoy the push to constantly pick up new weapons that heavily change the way you run through the game. Timing dodges and the slow motion ability also creates a nice strategic way to look at the game and choose which enemies to tackle first. And with the Steam Deck, taking this on-the-go is easy and simple!
Without any changes to game settings, OTXO runs like a charm on the Steam Deck! Sticking around 10W battery drain for a 4 hour charge, the game will stick around 60 FPS and refuse to budge!

While the game doesn't support 16:10 resolution so it won't fill the entire Deck screen, but it does have full controller support! There are no cloud saves here sadly, but this is one of those games I can only see playing on the Deck, just make sure not to delete proton files! I would personally turn the cursor's visibility completely off, but I preferred it visually.
OTXO is a fast-paced blood fest that shines in its presentation and aesthetic. I love the focus on picking up weapons to keep killing while changing the strategic flow of the map. I also appreciate the random nature of the maps. With 8 areas and 150+ rooms to randomize in a completely shuffled layout, it felt randomized just enough to keep things fresh without getting too wild. And with how well it runs on the Steam Deck, this is a fantastic experience I can highly recommend!
